Forestry Offsets

Forests are great at sequestering carbon. Obviously, larger plants absorb more carbon dioxide than no-till crops or grasses and as such forestry projects will earn more carbon credits than other offset projects. One other major difference is that the carbon is stored primarily in the tree itself, rather than in the soil profile as with annual no-till crops or grasses.

Forestry Eligibility

Please review this important information regarding Forestry Eligibility!

Do I Qualify?

Take a few minutes to follow through the questions below and study the CCX Afforestation guidelines. Please remember carbon sequestration is not for everyone. Producers may have some acres that qualify for each type of offset, and many acres that do not qualify at all. Also, you need NOT enroll all of your acres.

1. Were the trees planted since 1990?

2. Was this land previously non-forested or degraded acres?

3. Is the density of trees at least 250 stems per acre?
