Seeded Grass

Seeded grass stands may earn carbon credits provided that the acres have a FSA cropping history, were originally converted to grass AFTER January 1, 1999, and will be maintained as a permanent grass stand (limited haying and/or grazing.) Seeded grass offsets may be earned back to 2003 with proper documentation. Current contract holders will be contacted soon regarding these additional credits. Non-cropland acres are not eligible for this offset.

Current seeded grass pool closes March 5, 2009, and is known as "NFUSG5". Contracts in this pool are for 2009-2013, with 2003-2008 as possible bonus years. Complete enrollment packets most be postmarked by the pool closing date.

Eligibility and Enrollment

Take a few minutes to study the FSA 578 tutorial, then answer the following questions to start the enrollment process and earn seeded grass carbon credits.
